Alan Fairhead, Chief Underwriting Officer, Zurich Global Corporate

Alan Fairhead, Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Insurer, became Chief Underwriting Officer Zurich Global Corporate in 2005 and is responsible for the corporate business underwriting strategy, pricing, products and results across the globe. Alan is a member of Zurich's Global Underwriting Council, Zurich Insurance PLC's Executive Management Team and the Global Corporate business division executive team. He chaired Zurich's Emerging Risks Group from 2005 until 2008 and led Zurich's global Multinational Insurance Program (MIP) design and implementation in 2007.

Alan began his career with GRE Group in 1978 and held various positions based predominantly in the London Market, including property manager and global risks manager. He joined Zurich in 1999, initially as Head of Corporate Products in Zurich Specialties and subsequently Head of Corporate Business in Zurich's newly formed London operation two years later, responsible for developing the corporate business proposition and merging three previously separate operations into one. In 2003, he became Chief Underwriting Officer Zurich London and in 2004 Chief Executive Officer, Global Corporate UK.

Over the years Alan has been a member of various industry groups and speaks regularly on industry issues across the globe.
