Hugh Robson, CEO Global Corporate in Asia Pacific (GCiAP)

Hugh Robson is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Asia Pacific corporate business of Zurich Financial Services (Zurich). Hugh started his career in insurance in 1978 as a broker with Bland Payne (now Marsh) in the London Lloyds and Company construction insurance markets. Hugh specialized in construction and engineering insurance until 1992 when he was posted to Jakarta, from Hong Kong, to take up his appointment as President Director of JLT's Indonesian operations. In 1999 Hugh moved to JLT's regional head office in Singapore as Managing Director of their Asian operations.

In 2006 Hugh joined Zurich to establish Zurich Global Corporate in Asia Pacific. As CEO of GCiAP Hugh is now building teams in the eight countries in Asia Pacific in which Zurich are represented to focus on developing major corporate business utilizing the successful model GC have employed in Europe and the USA. Hugh and the regional management team are located in Hong Kong.

In addition to his 21 years experience in the Asia Pacific insurance markets Hugh also spent three years working for Stewart Wrightson (Willis) in Africa again focusing on construction insurance, he was also a director of the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia and an Advisor to the British Ambassador in Indonesia during the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997.
