Corporate responsibility

At Zurich we’re committed to creating value for our company and for society by proactively addressing material social, environmental and governance issues. We continually seek to improve our corporate responsibility performance using such measures as the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) and the FTSE4Good Index Series. We integrate pertinent issues (like climate change) into our core business, and look for ways that our core business can make a positive contribution on important issues (like poverty and microinsurance).

We prioritize issues based on the potential impact on the business, level of societal concern and our ability to make a difference. Our Corporate Responsibility Strategy Group, which is formed by functional and business leaders, oversees our corporate responsibility performance and activities at the Group level. Several of Zurich's business units, including those in the United Kingdom and Australia, have established comprehensive corporate responsibility programs of their own. Close cooperation with our business units is integral to the implementation of the Group strategy and will allow us to build on the momentum that’s already being generated around our Group when it comes to being a responsible company.
