Justin Robbins
European Channels and Editorial Manager, Communications, EGI
What is your background?
- I studied for a Bachelors degree in International Business Administration at Brunel University in the UK. It was a really general course because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do apart from work for a global organisation.
- I've always worked in communications, starting off in marketing and then moving into sales. I earned a postgraduate diploma in internal communications management in 2001. It's an area that enables you to learn more about an organisation than most people ever get to know.
- I joined Zurich in 2002 as part of the UK Communications team. I have worked across all areas of the UK business. My last role was a global one based at Corporate Centre. I'm now based back in the UK and am responsible for communication channels and editorial across Europe.
- I've been doing triathlon for the past 12 years and last year took part in the Ironman triathlon in Zurich. It was extremely challenging.
Why did you choose Zurich?
When I applied to join Zurich it was my dream to work for a truly global organisation where opportunities and new experiences are plentiful. I can't resist a challenge, both at work and in my personal life.
During the past seven years, I have been lucky enough to travel to many of the countries where we have offices and work with people from all levels of the organisation on some really significant programmes. I feel really privileged to have been given this opportunity.
Why have you stayed with Zurich?
Zurich is a great company. It's so many companies and experiences rolled into one. Every day when I walk through the front door I'm never completely sure what lies ahead, and that really excites and motivates me. It's also full of great people whom I get to work with every day.
If I were interviewing you…
…I'd ask you about the top three things that you would like to achieve in your life. I believe in setting goals that are challenging but achievable, and that's what I would look for in a new recruit.
