Marco Zuccarini
Head of Zurich Academy Italy, Account for Sales & Distribution in Zurich Academy Europe
What is your background?
- I was born in Chieti, central Italy, in 1971. I speak Italian and English and a little Japanese.
- I hold a masters degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Bologna.
- Before Zurich, I spent some years at a management consultancy in Milan, where I managed organisational projects in various industries.
- I joined Zurich in 2000 and spent five years in the Organizational Department, an internal consultancy team. In 2006, I launched and led Zurich Academy Italy. I also joined the European Network, where I have been part of the team developing Zurich Academy Europe.
- I now also cover an international role: Account for Sales & Distribution in Zurich Academy Europe. This role entails understanding and supporting the business (both Tied Agents and Independent Distribution) in finding effective training solutions and facilitate synergies and cross-knowledge sharing opportunities between EU countries.
- I live in Milan with my wife and our baby girl, born in 2008.
Why did you choose Zurich?
I have been working in Zurich since 2000 and have had the opportunity to experience an international and challenging environment, which was just what I was looking for. Zurich is a results-oriented company that is always open to change and offers its people concrete opportunities to develop. Last but not least, the values of Zurich are very much aligned with my own personal beliefs.
Why have you stayed with Zurich?
I continue to enjoy and feel engaged in what I am doing. Sometimes it is not easy to manage the workload and all the projects. But when I look at what we have accomplished, our future challenges and the passion and effort of the people on my team, I recognise the value of being part of this.
If I were interviewing you…
…I would look for an open-minded attitude, a focus on results, an international mindset and the ability to see things from different perspectives.
