Mario P. Vitale brings his entire career’s worth of experience to his position as Chief Executive Officer of Zurich's Global Corporate in North America (GCiNA) business unit. He is a graduate of St. John's University College of Insurance and has spent approximately 20 years in executive positions in the insurance industry. Since joining Zurich in October 2006, he has responsibility for all Zurich Global Corporate business in North America and more recently in Latin America.
Zurich GCiNA meets the domestic and international insurance needs of corporate and global companies. Global Corporate is an integrated business, capitalizing on its unique transatlantic footprint and global network and delivering a single Zurich approach to customers and brokers.
In his capacity as CEO, Vitale is responsible for driving growth and profitability for Global Corporate US and Canada specifically for large corporate markets with global and large domestic solutions, including both property and custom-tailored casualty programs. Vitale directs Global Energy's international management team, meeting the needs of oil and gas, petrochemical, natural resources, mining and power generation customers worldwide. He supervises Zurich's Structured Solutions Group specializing in integrated and alternative risk financing for large corporate customers in North America. Vitale is also leading broker relationship management in the US for Global Corporate and a member of Zurich's Growth Council. Furthermore, in 2007, Mr. Vitale launched the industry's first fully integrated global M&A unit, created to position Zurich as the preferred partner and trusted advisor in M&A transactions dedicated to serving all acquisitions and divestitures of the global corporate business.
Prior to joining Zurich and contributing to Mr. Vitale's versatile background, he served with the global broker, Willis Group Holdings, for six years and as CEO of Willis North America, for four years. In October of 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the global large account practice, overseeing the broker's efforts geared toward the Fortune 1000, the private equivalents and companies with sales upward of USD 1 billion. Mr. Vitale was a member Willis’ Group Executive Committee and Office of the Chairman, Willis Canada Board of Directors and Willis Reinsurance Board. After graduating from St. John's University College of Insurance in 1977, Mr. Vitale embarked on his professional career at the Home, following by 25 years of global experience in various insurance industry leadership positions.
Mr. Vitale is a member of the Board of Trustee's of St. John's University College of Insurance in New York, the Board of Directors of AICPCU, the Board of Directors of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers and the Board of the American Insurance Association (A.I.A.).
