Zurich partners on Global Risks 2008 report
For the first time, Zurich has joined the ranks of a handful of financial & academic institutions to contribute to the World Economic Forum’s annual Global Risks report – a collaborative effort in conjunction with the World Economic Forum Global Risk Team.
As a strategic partner, Zurich continues to be a significant contributor to World Economic Forum global event circuit - and this year’s summit - “The Power of Collaborative Innovation” - is no exception.
Global Risks 2008 takes a comprehensive look at emerging issues and key global risks through the lens of 2008 and beyond. The overarching message for 2008 is that will see the highest levels of political and economic uncertainty that we’ve experienced in a decade.
The four top global risks identified in the 2008 report are food (in)-security, an abrupt decline of the US dollar, international terrorism, and the potential for an escalation of the conflict between Iran and the United States. Over the years, the increasing interdependence and complexity of the various risks have created major challenges for an equitable mitigation of risks. As in earlier issues, the 2008 Global Risk Report maintains that sustainable risk mitigation can only be achieved if it is based on collaborative efforts that include as many stakeholders as possible.
