New Head of Group Communications

Zurich, July 30, 2002 - Patricia Seemann, Head of Group Communications, joined Zurich Financial Services in 2000 with the intent to return to her own company at the end of this year. James J. Schiro, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Financial Services, says: "She and I decided that this is an ideal point in time to facilitate the transition to the CEO’s new team by her stepping down. I am pleased that Patricia Seemann has agreed to continue working with me as my adviser on broad issues with emphasis on specific communications issues and change management." Jim Schiro has appointed Daniel Hofmann, Chief Economist, as Head of Group Communications effective immediately.
