Zurich names Reto Schiltknecht as Group General Counsel

Zurich, May 9, 2007 – Zurich Financial Services Group (Zurich) announced today that Reto Schiltknecht will join the company as Group General Counsel as of September 1, 2007. In his new position, Mr. Schiltknecht will be a member of the Group Management Board and will oversee all legal and compliance functions worldwide across the Zurich Group.

Mr. Schiltknecht brings more than 15 years of broad based legal experience to Zurich and joins from the Schindler Group where he was Head of Corporate Legal and Deputy Group General Counsel.

Schiro, Zurich’s Chief Executive Officer. “Reto is a welcome addition to the Zurich management team.”

Mr. Schiltknecht is a frequent speaker and commentator on legal issues and has been the author of a broad range of publications. He completed his studies in Law and Business Administration at the University of Berne and also achieved his Doctorate of Law from the same University. He was admitted to the Bar of the Canton of Lucerne in 1988.
