Pan-European partnership with TomTom

Zurich, September 27, 2007 – Zurich Financial Services Group (Zurich) is today announcing a pan-European partnership with the world’s largest navigation solutions provider, TomTom. As Zurich’s insurance products and TomTom’s navigation devices are both based on the idea of security and service, the arrangement will ideally benefit both customer bases.

In the first such arrangement of its kind, Zurich customers in five European countries (Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK), will be able to receive an incentive to purchase TomTom satellite navigation devices. Similarly, TomTom customers will gain discounts from Zurich on their car insurance. Each country is developing its own local arrangements which will reflect their own unique market and trading conditions.

Zurich is a leading insurance company providing insurance expertise and support to customers across Europe. It is the market leader in direct motor insurance in Germany and is the 3rd largest private and commercial motor insurer in the UK.

Research conducted by the leading independent Dutch research agency TNO showed that drivers feel more relaxed, less stressed and safer when driving with a navigation device. The research provided further insights and illustrates that satellite navigation owners benefit from increased awareness, a reduced workload, and less time and distance travelled when getting to their destination. Full findings can be found at (www.tomtom.com/safety).

Theo Bouts, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich's Direct Business and Direct Partnership unit Europe, said, “Working with TomTom is a great fit for us at Zurich, given our shared wish to have safe drivers on Europe’s roads. Our expertise in delivering pan-European direct insurance will allow us to bring this important message to our customers.”

“We have always designed our products with safety as a key priority. Our tests have consistently proven that our products act as a genuine driving aid,” said Alexander Ribbink, chief operating officer at TomTom.
