Zurich announces amount of preferred securities tendered via its Offer to Purchase as of the Early Tender Date

Zurich, July 20, 2009 – Zurich Financial Services Group (Zurich) today announced the amount of securities tendered via its cash tender offer for certain outstanding preferred securities (subordinated debt) as of 5 p.m. New York City time, on July 17, 2009 (“Early Tender Date”). The offer was first announced on July 9 and will continue to run until August 6, 2009. It is being made to further optimize Zurich’s capital structure. Zurich is offering to purchase up to USD 728 million aggregate principal amount of Series III Floating Rate Enhanced Capital Advantaged Preferred Securities (“ECAPS”) and Series IV and V Fixed/Floating Rate Trust Preferred Securities. The offer is subject to certain conditions set forth in the Offer to Purchase dated July 9, 2009 (“Offer to Purchase”), including the maximum purchase amounts on each individual series set forth in the table below.
As of the Early Tender Date, the principal amounts of securities validly tendered and not withdrawn, as reported by the depositary, were as follows:

Depending on the security, the prices range between 75% and 82% of face value. In accordance with the terms of the Offer to Purchase, holders may continue to tender the securities until 5 p.m. New York City time on August 6, 2009, unless extended or earlier terminated. The obligation to accept and pay for the securities after the offer expires remains subject to certain conditions set forth in the Offer to Purchase.
