Zurich, June 7, 2012 – Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) today announced
the appointment of Valerie Butt (44, American) as Head of Sales, Distribution & Marketing for Global Corporate (GC), effective July 1, 2012.
In her new role, Ms. Butt will be responsible for the development and execution of GC's sales and distribution strategies as well as GC’s marketing efforts on a global basis. She will be relocating to Zurich and will report directly to Thomas Hürlimann, CEO Global Corporate, as part of the GC Executive Team.
Ms. Butt joined Zurich in 1997 as Head of Underwriting, Western Region with Centre Solutions in the USA. Since then, she held various management positions including, most recently, Head of Customer Relationship Management for GC in North America. Under her leadership Zurich's relationship model has become the market benchmark in North America, strengthening and expanding its relationships with key strategic customers.
Ms. Butt holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. in finance and risk management, both from the University of Georgia, USA. In 2010, she was named one of a small number of “Women to Watch” by USA's Business Insurance Magazine.
