Sergio played his first professional event when he was only 15 years old and everyone knew he was going to be special when he turned pro in 1999. Since then, Sergio has gone on to collect 33 professional victories around the world, including his first major victory at the dramatic 2017 Masters Tournament over Justin Rose in a playoff. In addition to taking home the iconic green jacket, in 2017, Sergio won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Andalucía Valderrama Masters and the European Tour Golfer of the Year award. He has spent a large amount of his career in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking with over 400 total weeks.
Sergio was born in Spain and currently resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Angela, daughter Azalea. Besides golf, Sergio loves sports and enjoys playing tennis or football whenever he has some spare time. He is also a fan of Real Madrid and his passion for football took him to fill the dual role of President and player of Borriol CF, a Third Division team in the Spanish football league. He debuted on September 12th, 2010 in a match against Ribarroja CF.
The Sergio Garcia Foundation was founded in 2002 in Spain and 2005 in Switzerland “for the purpose of contributing to the social inclusion of economically deprived children and youth, through social assistance benefits and the practice of sport as free-time activity.”
Sergio Garcia joined the Zurich Golf Ambassadors family in 2018 and carries the Zurich branded golf bag throughout competition.
