Danny Chia
Danny is a history maker for his home country of Malaysia. As an amateur, he won Malaysia’s amateur championship for three straight years before turning professional in 1996. He became the first Malaysian to win on the Asian Tour with a victory at the 2002 Taiwan Open and to play in all four rounds at the British Open at St. Andrews, a feat he accomplished in 2010.
After being sidelined in 2013 from a major shoulder injury, Danny showed resiliency in his comeback efforts. In 2015, Danny added another victory to his resume with a win at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters which made him the first Malaysian to hold multiple victories on the Asian Tour. Dany represented Malaysia in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Danny currently resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with his wife and daughter. Danny picked up golf from his father once he started following him to the driving range. Besides golf, Danny enjoys watching movies and playing video games.
Danny Chia has joined the Zurich Golf Ambassadors family in 2018 and will carry the Zurich branded golf bag throughout the year.
