What is the Agentic AI Hyper Challenge?

The Agentic AI Hyper Challenge is a pioneering initiative which builds upon the Zurich Innovation Championship’s established success formula and transforms it into a new hackathon style format.

This challenge invites startups and passionate engineers to develop innovative solutions that push the boundaries of Agentic AI.

After registering for the challenge, you’ll receive more details about the use cases during the onboarding call. Access to the relevant documentation for each challenge will be provided on the first day of the hackathon.

FAQ

We’re looking for startups and passionate engineers who can demonstrate to us how Agentic AI can transform the insurance industry. You should be able to prototype during the hackathon leveraging our data and exhibits to showcase how your solution would be applied.

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that can autonomously perceive, reason, and act to achieve defined goals with minimal human intervention.

You should be capable of developing a working prototype within the hackathon period.

No, you may work with whichever technology you deem best to solve the challenge be that open source or your own proprietory technology.

No, participation in the Challenge is completely free for selected participants.

We’re looking for solutions in four broad areas: Underwriting, Marketing & Sales, Claims, and Actuarial Analysis and Financial Reporting. Each is open-ended to encourage innovation.

Yes, you're welcome to tackle more than one area if your product/solution is applicable and your team has the capacity.

You’ll have access and mentorship from Zurich business experts and AI professionals.

Finalists will be chosen based on innovation, technical feasibility, potential impact, cost of the solution and operating model. A jury of Zurich leaders will evaluate the pitches.

You'll have access to the structured and unstructured data exhibits which a human would use to analyse, process, inform and decide. We will provide information about the process to understand the context, however don't be constrained by the currenty process- we are excited to explore how agentic can enable business outcomes faster and better!

Winners will receive project funding and the opportunity to collaborate with Zurich on a pilot, with potential for a long-term cooperation.

Your data submitted will be handled according the Zurich privacy policy. All appropriate agreements will be established between Zurich and the relevant startups that are selected for the Hackathon. Zurich will retain the submissions from startups as a pipeline of innovation and may contact startups for future collaboration opportunities at its discretion, regardless of whether they will be selected or not. Every startup has the right to request all data included in their submission to be completely removed from Zurich’s records and will receive confirmation of any such requests according to relevant data protection regulations. Requests for record deletion should be sent by e-mail to innovation@zurich.com.

You will retain the intellectual property in your preexisting products and services. If Zurich chooses to collaborate with you and to co-develop new products or services using Zurich resources, a separate negotiation around intellectual property will take place.

You will retain ownership of all intellectual property (IP), including your application and any materials or solutions developed independently by you prior to the Hyper Challenge. However, by participating in the Hyper Challenge, you grant Zurich a non-exclusive, transferable, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, publicly perform, and create derivative works from your submission, including the right to sublicense such rights. This license is granted solely for purposes related to the Hyper Challenge, evaluation of your submission, and potential collaboration discussions.

If Zurich chooses to collaborate with you following the Hyper Challenge and co-develop new products or services using Zurich’s resources, a separate agreement will be negotiated. This agreement will address the ownership and licensing of any jointly developed intellectual property. For clarity, any IP created solely by Zurich or its representatives in the course of such collaboration will be owned exclusively by Zurich.

By applying to the Hyper Challenge, you /startups grant Zurich the right to retain the full content of your application(s), regardless of whether they are selected to participate in the Hyper Challenge or not. You understand that you will bear your own costs and expenses in connection with the Hyper Challenge and that there will be no fees or charges to Zurich for your participation in the Hyper Challenge nor for the prototype of the tailored solution. Zurich may, at its sole discretion, without compensation nor additional permission, contact any applicant after the Hackathon regarding potential collaboration opportunities or other innovation initiatives.

By participating in the Hyper Challenge and accepting Zurich as a potential client, you/startups also grant Zurich the right to use and publish their name, company name, and general participation details in connection with the Hyper Challenge and related communications or publications, without further compensation.

By submitting an application and participating in the Hyper Challenge, you represent and warrant that:

  • You have obtained and hold all necessary rights, licenses, consents, and permissions to submit your application and any associated materials;
  • Your application and participation do not and will not infringe, misappropriate, or otherwise violate the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party;
  • Zurich has the right to use and publish your Company name and name of the submitter at any stage during the Hyper Challenge.
  • You are not submitting any personal data aside from your own contact details;
  • During your participation you will comply with all laws, statutes and regulations applicable to your activities and performance under this Hyper Challenge:
  • You will not violate any agreement or obligation between yourself and any third party for and during your participation;

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Zurich and its affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including legal fees) arising from or related to any breach of the above representations and warranties. By submitting an application, the participant confirms that it has read and understood the Challenge FAQ and the terms and conditions and fully agrees to comply with the rules described. If the participant does not agree with these terms and conditions, it should not register or submit an application.
