Our wellbeing framework

In 2018, Zurich developed a global holistic wellbeing framework that provides its employees with the tools and resources needed to help them stay healthy and empowered. With four key areas of mental, physical, social and financial wellbeing.

What is mental wellbeing?

Mental wellbeing is the ability to practice stress-management and relaxation techniques, be resilient and generate the emotions that lead to good feelings. For example, low mental wellbeing may develop anxiety, depression or similar conditions. Good mental wellbeing helps to cope better with challenging situations. Being able to manage these feelings and understand them will help to:

  • Feel confident
  • Build and maintain positive relationships
  • Have a sense of purpose
  • Live and work productively
  • Cope better with the normal stresses of day-to-day life
  • Manage when things change

What is physical wellbeing?

The ability to improve the functioning of your body through healthy living and good exercise habits. Having good physical wellbeing is choosing to look after your body, by exercising, good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, thus preventing disease or conditions that could occur rather.

What is social wellbeing?

Social wellbeing is the ability to communicate, develop meaningful relationships with others and maintain a support network that helps you overcome loneliness and having a sense of belonging.

What is financial wellbeing?

Financial wellbeing aims to have financial security for day-to-day needs and having a financial plan in place for the future, as well as about being in control of one’s own finances. When financial wellbeing is low, it can develop into financial stress.
